Important Note About The Songs

Most submitted songs come with accompanying MIDI (.mid) files and Adobe Acrobat™ (.pdf) files. The MIDI files allow you to play the songs on your sound card; the .pdf files allow you to see the sheet music and print it out.

The music can be heard on any computer which has a sound card. However, you'll get the best results if your computer is equipped with what is known as a "wavetable sound card". Cheaper sound cards use a technique known as FM synthesis to convert the MIDI file into music. Wavetable sound cards, however, actually have samples of real musical instruments so that when you play a MIDI file, it sounds as if real instruments are playing. The auditory difference can be astonishing.

You can learn the melody for the songs by using the following technique: on the lefthand frame, select the song you want to hear. Then click on the lyrics to bring them up. Next, click on the MIDI (.mid) file to start the music playing. You can listen to the music and follow along in the text.

To see and print the sheet music, you'll need to install the Adobe Acrobat Reader™ on your machine. This is free software. Click here to find out more about getting and installing this.

NOTE: When I view the sheet music in my browser, only one staff line appears per line. When I print it out, however, all staff lines appear.
